Throughout my career I have supported families through many styles of mindfulness and hypnosis for birth. In 2023 I was given the opportunity to start teaching Hypnobirthing for Hypnobirthing Hamilton. What stood out for me with this approach was how inclusive it was. Clients would be more engaged with their surroundings and their partner. It was useful for helping people stay in their power through all birthing options. And people share it helped them not only for birth but in their regular day to day lives.
Hypnosis is a powerful, easy-to-use tool that helps us have the types of thoughts and beliefs that best serve us. It can also alter our behaviours and sense perceptions, which is great when it comes to pain management. Through the power of mind-over-matter, hypnosis can be used to enhance the physical aspects of birth and the postpartum period. If fear or past trauma is impacting your process, hypnosis is an effective way to cultivate greater well-being and peace of mind.
"Thank you for believing in me and helping me to believe in myself again. My birth experience was better than I ever thought possible."
The style and approach of these classes are an empowering way to prepare for the birth of your child. Whether you're single or partnered, on your first pregnancy or fourth, you'll find value in this comprehensive education. It embraces the broad spectrum of ways birth can unfold, and honours the autonomy and diversity of the birther and the people who walk alongside them.
Hypnosis enables us to deprogram ourselves of the negative beliefs surrounding birth, and replace those detrimental myths with confidence in our ability to navigate our experiences successfully. This is a powerful way to interrupt the fear-tension-pain cycle.
Regular relaxation and hypnotic practice enables you (and your birth companions) to be more calm and centred, leading to better decision-making, and healthier child development. Without reserves being drained in order to cope with high levels of anxiety and stress, you're freer to enjoy the experience.
Hypnosis can be used to affect the body and allow it to function optimally. Just as athletes use mental rehearsal and hypnosis to improve their performance, you can use these same techniques to prepare yourself for a great birth.
Pre-registration and payment is required to secure your space. It is ideal to complete a class no later than your 37th week of pregnancy.
